All car manufacturers have interesting back stories of how they started or how certain models came to be built and so here is a selection of some of our favourite Toyota facts.
Some interesting facts about Toyota...
Having been founded in 1927, Toyota was originally called Toyoda after its founder Sakichi Toyoda and in the early days of the company it didn't produce cars but looms for the textile industry. The first production vehicle to go on sale to the public was not until 1947.
Toyota vehicles are famous for their reliability. It is claimed that 80% of all 20-year-old Toyotas are still running today!
Since its launch in 1997, the Toyota Prius has become the best-selling hybrid car in the world with over 5 million sold.
Toyota have had a manufacturing presence in the UK for the last 30 years. In 1992 they opened two bases, an engine factory in North Wales and a car plant in Derbyshire.
Globally, the best-selling car of all time is the Toyota Corolla. Since its launch in 1966, it has been sold in over 150 countries. On average a new Toyota Corolla is purchased every 15 seconds and to date a staggering 44 million have been produced!
The current Toyota logo was only introduced in 1989. It is constructed from three ovals, the two inner ovals intersect to form a styalised letter 'T' for Toyota, while the outer logo represents the world embracing the Toyota brand.
In 1959 the Japanese city of Korona was renamed to Toyota to underline the national and global significance of the company. Today, the city is home to almost half a million people and is still the location for several of Toyota’s manufacturing plants in Japan as well as the location of their company headquarters.

Appointments typically take less than one hour to complete and can be booked seven days a week.
If you have any outstanding finance remaining on the vehicle, then we will also help you to take care of that on the day by dealing directly with your finance company on your behalf to pay off the remaining debt using money from the purchase price.
