All car manufacturers have interesting back stories of how they started or how certain models came to be built and so here is a selection of some of our favourite Hyundai facts.
Some interesting facts about Hyundai...
Sales in the UK for Hyundai saw a huge increase between 2020 and 2021. Although only 9th in the list of best-selling car brands in the UK sales were up a huge 46% compared to the previous year. No other manufacturer in the top 10 saw growth close to that.
Hyundai is the largest car producer in South Korea. They also own Kia Motors. Combined they are the third largest manufacturer of cars in the world.
The word Hyundai in Korean means 'modernity'. The brand logo features a stylised letter ‘H’ which is supposed to represent two people shaking hands, one a representative of the company and the other a happy customer!
Like a lot of car manufacturers the early years of the company didn't see them produce any cars! Founded in 1967 Hyundai actually began life as a construction company, it wouldn't be until the 1980s before the first Hyundai car would roll off a production line.
Hyundai are the proud owners of the largest car manufacturing plant in the world, which is capable of producing 1.6 million cars a year, which is an incredible one car every 20 seconds!
Hyundai is one of just a handful of car manufacturers that produce a hydrogen power car. The Nexo will cover over 400 miles on a full tank of hydrogen, whilst emitting just water vapour and air from the exhaust.
