Interesting facts about
Nissan cars

At webuyurcar we love all things car related and so we thought it would be a fun idea to collate some of the nuggets of information that we have picked up from years of being in and around the automotive industry.

All car manufacturers have interesting back stories of how they started or how certain models came to be built and so here is a selection of some of our favourite Nissan facts.

Some interesting facts about Nissan...

The roots of the Nissan company can be traced back to 1911 when the Kwaishinsha Motor Car Works company was founded in Japan. The first car the new company would produce was called the DAT. The name was derived from the first letter of the surnames of the company's three investors.

The company went through a number of name changes in the early part of the twentieth century, eventually becoming DAT Motors. In 1931 DAT Motors launched a new car called the Datsun, literally meaning the son of DAT. In the UK and many other export markets all Nissan vehicles would be badged using the Datsun brand until 1983 when they switched to using the Nissan brand name for all markets.

From its launch in 2010 up to 2020 (when the Tesla Model 3 overtook it) the Nissan Leaf was the world's bestselling plug-in electric car. To date, well over half a million have been sold.

As well as cars, Nissan used to build rocket engines for spacecraft. A Nissan engine powered Japan's first satellite launch in 1970.

The Nissan Qashqai is currently the third best-selling car in the UK. It is so popular that you are pretty much guaranteed to see one whenever you are out driving on the roads, but have you ever wondered where the name originates? Qashqai is actually the name for a conglomeration of five nomadic mountainous tribes that live throughout southern and central Iran. Nissan believe that owning a Qashqai gives you the freedom to become nomadic in nature like the tribes it is named after.

If you are happy to proceed with the sale of your vehicle, we then pay you the agreed amount via instant bank transfer. The payment is made while we are still at the appointment and so if you have access to online banking this gives you the added peace of mind to be able to confirm you have received the payment before our vehicle purchaser leaves.
