I would like to sell my car, what is the process?

The process of selling a car with webuyurcar is fast and extremely straight forward. We pride ourselves on just how convenient we have made the selling process for our customers.

The first stage is to generate your online pre-inspection valuation from the webuyurcar website. To do this, you just enter your car registration in the box below, answer a few simple questions and you will receive an instant free valuation.

If you are ready to proceed then you can click the option to book an appointment, either from the valuation screen or from the email you will receive shortly after you have generated your valuation. At this point, one of our friendly call centre staff will contact you to arrange the appointment. Alternatively, you can contact us if you prefer. Our call centre number and opening times can be found here. Your valuation remains valid for 7 days.

Remember that we come to you for the appointment, this can either be at your home or workplace. Because we come to you, it means you do not need to worry about how to get home once you have sold your car, the process really is hassle free!

On the day of the appointment, our vehicle purchaser will visit you at the arranged time to inspect your vehicle - they will call you in the unlikely event that they may be running late. The appointment usually takes under an hour to complete. During the inspection, our assessor will take photographs of your car and conduct a short test drive to ensure that there are no major mechanical issues. A final offer price will then be made to you based upon the inspection.

If you are happy with the final offer, then the assessor will contact our payments team who will arrange instant payment into your bank account. This means that you can check online banking to see the money in your account before you have handed over the keys to us.

Once payment is made, our assessor will take the keys to the vehicle and arrange for our collection team to collect the car within the next few days. Unless the vehicle is parked somewhere that you need to grant access to, such as a gated drive, then you will not need to be present when the vehicle is collected.

Do I need to travel to sell my car?

No, here at webuyurcar we believe selling a car should be as easy and stress-free as possible. We all lead such busy lives these days, so you shouldn't need to be worrying about how to get back home after selling a car. This is why we come to you, either to your home or work address, so you won't have to arrange for a lift from a friend or relative or rely on public transport to get back home.

We have vehicle purchasers located throughout the country and with appointments available 7 days a week, it really could not be simpler to sell your car.

What types of vehicle do you buy?

We buy all makes and models.

Can I sell my car to you if it has outstanding finance on it?

Yes, you can. Selling a car when there is still outstanding finance on it can seem a little daunting, however finance is such a popular way for people to buy cars that our team at webuyurcar are used to dealing with purchases where the vehicle still has an outstanding finance debt.

On the day of the appointment, if you accept our inspection offer for your vehicle, we will then deal directly with your finance company on your behalf to pay off the remaining debt using money from the purchase price. Any balance remaining from the purchase price is then paid directly into your bank account.

Will you test drive my car during the appointment?

Assuming a vehicle is in a road-legal state then a standard part of the appointment procedure that we do before we commit to buy any car is for our vehicle purchaser to take your car for a short test drive lasting approximately 5-10 minutes.

The test drive is necessary to ensure that there are no major mechanical defects with the vehicle that could affect the re-sale value as not all mechanical issues can be detected by simply running the engine. For example, if there was an issue with the clutch or gear box, or with the steering or brakes then these are issues that we can only detect on a short test drive. If any issues are found, then our vehicle assessor will discuss their findings with you on their return.

All our purchasers are fully insured to drive customer vehicles during appointments and so you can be assured that your vehicle is fully covered by the webuyurcar company insurance for the test drive.

How quickly do I get paid?

Once you have accepted our inspection offer and our vehicle purchaser has confirmed that all the necessary paperwork is in order, the purchaser will then contact our payments team who will process your payment immediately.

This means that the payment is made into your bank account during the appointment and while the vehicle purchaser is still with you, allowing you the opportunity to confirm the transaction using online banking.

We do not charge an additional fee for processing payments immediately as we believe it is important that all our customers have peace of mind that they have received all monies owed to them before our vehicle purchaser has left the appointment.

What days do you operate?

Appointments are available 7 days a week, giving you the freedom to choose a time that is convenient, and as we come to you to view your vehicle, you don't even need to leave home to sell your car. Our friendly call centre team are also available 7 days a week.

You can click here to view full details of our opening times.

What documentation do I need to have at my appointment?

If you have arranged for us to come and assess your vehicle, then it is important to be prepared with the correct documentation that you will be required to produce should you agree to the sale on the day.

When selling a vehicle to us there are several documents that you will need to be able to show our vehicle purchaser before the sale can be completed and the money for the vehicle transferred to your bank account.

The required documents are:

  • V5C: This will need to name you as the registered keeper and your address on the V5C will also need to be up to date with your current address.
  • Photo ID: This can be your driving licence or passport
  • Proof of Address: In addition to the V5C listing your address, we also need to see one other form of proof of address, this could be a utility bill or council tax bill
  • Bank Details: In order to be able to process a payment to your bank account we would also need to see a hardcopy of your bank details, such as your bank card or a recent bank statement

If you have any further questions about what documentation you need to produce on the day of the appointment, then you can contact our team seven days a week who will be more than happy to help.
