Lock your vehicle

Hide any valuables

•Ensure your vehicle is clutter-free as possible, don’t leave charging wires in sight, as this may indicate that electronic devices are stored in the vehicle. 

Think where you park.

•Always think smart about where you park your vehicle. We recommend parking in front of busy buildings, shops, near cameras and street lights. 

•Car parks do tend to have CCTV. However, we still encourage you to park in busy spots near the entrance or exit. 

•We recommend that you drive forward into the space with your boot facing out when parking. This will help stop thieves from being able to hide behind your vehicle while they try to break in.

•We suggest that you fit a tracking system to your vehicle. This will give you a better chance of being reunited with your car in the event of it being stolen. 

•Most vehicles now come with an alarm system built in; however, if your vehicle doesn't we suggest you invest in installing one in your vehicle. 

Deterrents

•If your vehicle uses a keyless system, we suggest you put a steering lock on your wheel. This will likely make the thief leave your vehicle alone, as it is often more hassle than it’s worth. 

•Add stickers to your window saying your car has a tracker fitted, even when it doesn’t. This is more than likely going to stop the thieves from taking your vehicle. 

•Purchase locks for your gearstick and handbrake, as this will likely deter someone who wants to break in.
