Now that the summer will soon be here, I bet you are planning weekends away or fun days out for you and the family. Whether it be a long journey deep into the beautiful countryside or just a trip to your local park for a little picnic, we have got you covered. Ensure to follow our tips to make sure your journey runs as smoothly as possible:

Tip 1: Make a list of everything you need for the journey; add the essentials you will need depending on where you are going. As well as the essential checks you will need to check on your car beforehand, e.g., tire pressure, oil, coolant, lights, wash fluid, etc.

Tip 2: Remember to take your important documents, such as your driving license, car insurance, and breakdown service, handy. This will be a huge help if you get stopped by the police for whatever reason or your car breaks down.

Tip 3: Always make sure to plan your route. This will give you a rough idea of which roads/motorways you should be traveling on, so when you see the signs, you know you are heading the right way! On the day of travel, check for any road works and weather conditions; this will prepare you for what is ahead.

Tip 4: When packing items in your car, use the boot to store any items. This is in case of an accident, as this will minimize any injury. For example, if you are traveling at 40 miles per hour and hit something, this will cause everything inside to move around, so if something heavy or sharp lands on one of the passengers, this can cause an injury.

Tip 5: Ensure everyone is sitting in the correct seat for whatever reason. This will help the driver avoid getting distracted by any passengers' problems. If one of the passengers is known for feeling car sick, let them sit in the front. Also, keeping children by the window is an excellent way to keep them entertained, as they can enjoy the views they pass on the way.

Tip 6: If you are traveling a long journey, we suggest you take refreshment stops to make sure you are on your 100 at all times. This can be done at service stations, where you can grab a quick snack, drink, fill up your tank, and even go to the toilet if needed while you're there. Government advice recommends taking a 15-minute rest every two to three hours to beat tiredness.
