Tips to keep your
car safe & secure
Stay safe with Webuyurcar
Are you taking the simple steps to ensure your car is safe? Whether that is parked outside your home or at work, there are many ways you can ensure your car is as secure as possible. This simple tip guide will inform you of all the best tips to keep your vehicle as safe as possible, wherever you may be.
Lock your vehicle •Always double-check that you have locked your vehicle before you leave by pulling the door handle or double-clicking the lock button. •You should never leave your windows open, even ever so slightly. This can make it easier for thieves to break into the vehicle. However if you are leaving your pet in your car just while you run into the shop etc, this is okay to do just for a few minutes. Even when leaving your vehicle for just a few minutes, always ensure it is locked, and all the windows are up before walking away. Keep the key out of sight. •When at home, always keep your key out of sight from any windows, as if a thief sees this through the window, it will encourage them to break into your home. •Always avoid leaving them near your front door, as it is possible that the thief could reach them through your letter box. •We suggest that if your car uses a keyless entry system, you purchase a signal blocker pouch. This prevents thieves or hackers from accessing the RFID signals coming from the device. Hide any valuables •Ensure that all valuable items are hidden in the boot, or take them out of the vehicle. As this will reduce the chance of an opportunist thief from breaking in. •Do not hide any valuable under items of clothing on your seats or floor. This is something that thieves are well aware of, making you an easy target. •Ensure your vehicle is clutter-free as possible, don’t leave charging wires in sight, as this may indicate that electronic devices are stored in the vehicle. Think where you park. •Always think smart about where you park your vehicle. We recommend parking in front of busy buildings, shops, near cameras and street lights. •Car parks do tend to have CCTV. However, we still encourage you to park in busy spots near the entrance or exit. •We recommend that you drive forward into the space with your boot facing out when parking. This will help stop thieves from being able to hide behind your vehicle while they try to break in. Alarms & tracking devices •We suggest that you fit a tracking system to your vehicle. This will give you a better chance of being reunited with your car in the event of it being stolen. •Most vehicles now come with an alarm system built in; however, if your vehicle doesn't we suggest you invest in installing one in your vehicle. Deterrents •If your vehicle uses a keyless system, we suggest you put a steering lock on your wheel. This will likely make the thief leave your vehicle alone, as it is often more hassle than it’s worth. •Add stickers to your window saying your car has a tracker fitted, even when it doesn’t. This is more than likely going to stop the thieves from taking your vehicle. •Purchase locks for your gearstick and handbrake, as this will likely deter someone who wants to break in.
