driving (Part 2)
Stay safe with Webuyurcar
Most parents will do everything they can to be the best parent they can be and keep their children safe, including being extra cautious when driving with them in the car. Here is a few tips on how you as a parent should behave while driving.
Keeping your cool- As a parent, you must be aware that children tend to play up and start jumping around and yelling when being in the back of the car. This can distract the driver and put all the passengers at risk of an accident. Therefore, it is crucial to say focused and keep your eyes on the road despite what is happening around you. Here are a few ways you can stay alert while driving: -Ensuring that you have enough sleep before setting off on your journey -Listen to lively music -Keep the vehicle at a cool temperature -Avoid taking substances or medication before driving -Drink lots of water - If all else fails, pull over to a safe place and take a nap You, as a parent, are an example to your child; when they see your level of caution while driving, they will follow in your footsteps. Children are always watching your every move. Therefore you should practice good behaviour when around them, as they will notice this and even start to mirror your actions. We recommend setting rules and boundaries out for your child to keep yourself and your family safe such as: -As soon as your child gets into the car, they must sit in their child's seat and buckle their seat belt. If your child is not old enough, you should do this for them immediately. Starting this from a young age will give them a good routine when they travel with you or someone else. -Ensure that your child knows never to touch the door handle or window buttons while driving, they are only to touch the door handle when the car is parked up, and you have told them to do so. As the car's driver, you must ensure that the child locks are on both the door and the windows. -Teach your child how to act around cars when walking in the street, such as always holding an adult's hand, looking both ways, keeping a safe distance from the road, etc. We also suggest practicing these scenarios at home, so your child is ready and aware of any situation. When they behave correctly, praise them to let them know that they are behaving the right way, which means they will do this again in the future. Here are some tips which you should consider while driving and having a child in the car: -Children often get bored traveling in a car, especially on a long journey! We suggest you engage in some activity with them, such as reading a story out loud or listening to fun music. This will keep them entertained, making them less likely to break your concentration on the roads. - Never use your mobile phone while driving, as this increases the accident rate hugely. A few seconds of distraction while driving can cause severe injuries and even death. If you urgently need to reply to a text or take a call, you must pull over in a safe place, park up, and then you are safe to do so. -Before traveling, ensure that you and your child have eaten, as children often like to snack for something to do while traveling. This can cause a serious accident if you open packets and pass them back to your child. Also, driving over bumps in the road or turning into a new lane can cause a child to choke.
